5 Notorious B.I.G. Songs to Honor the Notorious RBG
On September 18, 2020, associate justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away after fighting pancreatic cancer off and on for eleven years. In her lifetime, she advanced the cause of women’s human rights by first arguing before the Supreme Court and then as a member of the court.
Nothing would be easier than to give up hope in light of her death. However, in the words of Rev. William Barber, nothing would be more tragic than for us to turn back now. So, put your hair up, finish your coffee, and put on some gangsta rap. There is plenty of work to be done to bind up the wounds in our republic.
Here are five Notorious BIG songs to turn up loud while you fight in honor of the Notorious RBG*.
1 — Notorious Thugs (feat. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony)
Our situation is a tight one
What you gonna do
fight or run?
2 — The Notorious B.I.G. (feat. Puff Daddy and Lil Kim)
All the time, Big Poppa kick the war rhymes
Raw flows, and that’s how it goes
3 — Juicy
You know very well
Who you are
Don’t let ’em hold you down
Reach for the stars
You had a goal
But not that many
‘Cause you’re the only one
I’ll give you good and plenty
4 — Warning
All-purpose war, got the Rottweilers by the door
And I feed ’em gunpowder, so they can devour
The criminals trying to drop my decimals
5 — Gimme The Loot
(It’s impossible to excerpt a non-vulgar line of this song. Brooklyn to the fullest)
*Almost nothing in any of these songs reflects the values of The Colloquial, this writer, or the life of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Biggie will have you ready to fight, though, and that’s what the moment demands. Fight on.
